(andPOP) - Summer fun turned into August angst. Who would be the sixth fallen Idol? Elimination was not any easier on this Thursday?s Canadian Idol results show. Before their fears were confirmed or denied, the Idols performed a variety of summer songs, such as ?Walkin? On Sunshine,? and ?Summer In the City?. Their first medley was technically sound, and contained fun choreography that pulled audience members to their feet.

Gary Beals, last season?s runner-up, sang ?Summer Nights,? a single from his new CD. A number of dancers in white shirts and jeans joined Beals onstage, making for a light song with a catchy tune. When asked for advice for this year?s Idols, Gary said, ?I want to encourage them to keep pressing on and staying strong.?

A medley of Beach Boys hits was the next performance by the Idols. It started out quite impressively, but they lost their groove during the performance. The beautiful tone and blend they had together at the beginning of the medley was replaced with an unpleasant sound and somewhere even the Beach Boys were covering their ears.

The results were next on the Idol agenda. Ben provided a quick recap of the judges? comments about each competitor from Wednesday night, and after several commercial breaks, Shane and Jason were announced as the week?s bottom two. Sass told the remaining Idols to ?keep focusing? and Zack commented on the bottom two, saying, ?Shane is an amazing, amazing singer, and Jason is a world-class entertainer in the right package.?

Shane Wiebe then got the bad news. He was the sixth competitor to leave Canadian Idol. When asked for final words, Jake told Shane, ?Every time we gave you direction, you listened and followed it. I think you?re a fantastic singer.? Farley said, ?I think you have the right tools, you just need the right song, the right situation, and the right management and you?re laughing.? Zack expressed himself, saying, ?The dignity you?ve shown as a man, as a husband, and as a Canadian in this situation is just phenomenal.?

With a smile on his face, Shane thanked his fans, saying, ?God bless you guys. I?ve had a blast.? He sang to Canada one last time, and as the music faded and the credits began to roll, Shane blew the audience a goodbye kiss.

Now only four remain in the competition, and with only three weeks to go, the stakes are higher than ever. Next week Matt Dusk makes a guest appearance, and Kalan, Theresa, Jacob and Jason will sing the standards.
