(andPOP) - Ryan Adams and his band the Cardinals have confirmed they will release a new album, "Cardinology," on Oct. 28.

The album via Lost Highway Records will feature twelve tracks, including first single "Fix It," which will be available digitally on Tuesday (Sept. 23) and released to radio Oct. 7.

Another track, "Stop," can be previewed on a Sept. 30 episode of the A&E series "The Cleaner."

A day after the album's release, the band will stop by "The Late Show with David Letterman" for a performance. That appearance is bookended by a North American tour and a two-week U.K. run beginning Nov. 8.

"Cardinology" is Adams' follow-up to 2007's "Easy Tiger" and his tenth studio album -- not including a 2003 record he released with Jesse Malin under the moniker The Finger -- since his alt-country band Whiskeytown disbanded in 1999.

In more Adams news, the prolific artist will publish his first book, "Infinity Blues," via Akashic Books on March 16. Pre-orders begin Oct. 6 on Akashic's website and include a signed hardcover copy along with a bonus poetry book from Adams titled "Sad American Mythology."
